LTV Kozad: Maintenance, Warranty & Upgrades

30th May 2014:
  • Extended Warranty($4,800): 84 months & 170,000kms on coach & MB Sprinter chassis.  Traveland RV Langley
  • Paint & Fabric Treatment ($213.00):  10 year warranty on exterior paint and interior fabric/leather surfaces.  Includes two free re-applications.  This will be applied in September, 2014 as there was no time for the work to be done prior to delivery date. TravelandRV Langley
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2nd June 2014
  • Non Slip Lining ($12.99 per roll Costco):  installed the non-slip grip lining in all cupboards, drawers, overhead cabinets and all other stowage areas on the interior
  • Rubber Muly-tyle Tile:  in all outside storage compartments. We used these on our boat and they work very well  (Home Depot)
  • Fantastic Fan Ultra Breeze Vent Covers ($220.00) includes price for vents, Dicor Lapseal and caulking gun): installed two vent covers on the head and galley fantastic fans. Enterprise RV & Home Depot.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3rd June 2014
  • Upgrade Sewer Dump Hose ($33.00):  when we arrived home there was no sewer hose in the storage compartment which is mounted to the slide out.  The plastic door was open so it would appear the hose was sucked out while we were traveling home from picking up the LTV.  We went to Traveland RV Westside and picked up a new hose, upgrading from the 12ml to 20ml size.
  • U Lounge Dinette Table Support: the table top spins, is loose an shifts around when underway.  Spoke with Dean at Triple E who advises this is not normal and advised to have Traveland RV Westside deal with this under warranty.  A new table top fitting was ordered and hopefully will deal with the problem. TripleE/LTV sent another table connection, although it did tighten up the top a bit, it did not completely solve the problem.  I believe this is an inherent problem with the U-Lounge Table Stand.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
13th June 2014
  • Custom Car Concepts ($84.00):  Reset Kenwood Head and re-installed the microphone as LTV had not hooked up the cable to the back of the head.
  • Side View Cameras:  are not working properly showing a color shift to purple and no green.  LTV will be sending a distribution box for replacement as a first step in the process.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
16th June 2014
  • Triple E RV ($98.29):   Removable U24MB shelf, supports & screws arrived and installed in rear tall outside compartment.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
18th June 2014
  • TravelandRV Westside ($77.11):  purchase three Camco Tri-Levelor blocks for levelling Unity.  Great purchase works very well.
  • Warranty Work:  the table top on the Unity 24MB is flimsy, wobbles and turns while driving.  New plastic table connector ordered but was not of any help.  Will have to research and look for an alternative post and connection for the table.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
20th June 2014
  • Chuck The Tireman ($182.00USD):  received order of Tire Valve Replacement Extensions Kit #4-6DS.  KalTire Vernon to install stems, were able to install both fronts but rears were not installed as one of the outer stems was mismatched with the other stems.  Diameter of inner flange was 3/4" vs 5/16"; message to Chuck for replacement.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
24th June 2014
  • IQ Graphics ($1855.00): installation of 3M XPEL with Pro-Skin Film Protection on front end, fenders, front cap and all leading edges/sides of Unity.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
25th June 2014
  • KalTire ($306.00): installed replacement tire valves and balanced 6 tires
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1st July 2014
  • Drain Master ($64.33): ordered and installed Black 360 RV Vent Cap High-Stack.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
27th July 2014
  • Vent Drain Propane ($19.00 parts): drilled a vent hole and installed pvc piping in the passenger side exterior storage unit.  Now the 5lb propane tank for our BBQ can be stored here.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
19th September 2014

  • Progressive Industries EMS-HW30C ($219.00 plus installation):  ordered online and had Traveland RV Langley install.  Excellent unit with the remote display unit.
  • Warranty Work: replacement of damaged wood trim panel above bed, was damaged on delivery.
  • Paint and Fabric Protection:  completed by Traveland.
  • Equalizer Jack Malfunction:  passenger side jack refused to retract after overnight stay on way to Traveland.  Used manual mode (socket ratchet) to retract the jack, resulting in the lug nut extension on the unit breaking off. LTV/Traveland will order replacement part.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
28th October 2014
  • Winterization:  I winterized the unit, used 1.5 gallons gallons of RV anti-freeze but could use a full 2 gallons.  Simple process, most difficult part was removing the HW Tank drain plug.
  • TIP:  should either park your LTV on a slight slope so all water comes out of the water tank.  I drained the tank on level ground, then after parking it on a slope an additional 1.5 to 2 gallons drained out.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
18th December 2014

  • Warranty Work:  LTV Kozad taken to Traveland (West Kelowna) for the following work:
      • Passenger Side Stabilizer Jack
      • Side View Camera Evaluation
      • Coach Entry Door blind adjustment
      • Slide Rail Evaluation (showing premature wear?)

  2. Craig and Jan,
Just came across your blog and am so glad I did. My wife and I have been looking at the LTV Unitys for three years now waiting on the right time (retirement dates, son's college, house payoff, etc.). Actually went to a big Winnebago dealer today to look at the 2015 Sprinter based Views. They have upgraded the look quite a bit lately, but still not up to LTV standards. This blog post in particular is particularly helpful as the Winnie salesman actually laughed when I mentioned we were considering a Leisure Travel product. Our nearest dealer is 5 hours away in Pennsylvania. His exact words, "Good luck ever getting that serviced around here! If you bring something here you didn't buy here, you go to the back of the line, and your hourly rate is $25 higher per hour." I was floored. Obviously, they are off my list of potential dealers. It's so good to see that you've only had relatively minor warranty related issues. If our experience is like yours, an annual 5 hour trip back to the dealer wouldn't be bad at all. We also have several good independent RV Service facilities within an hour's drive. I'm hoping that LTV would authorize warranty service there similar to what they might do if you were on a trip. Have you ever heard of them doing that?
Again, so glad to have found your blog. Great job! Have a wonderful time out there!
    Roger
