LTV Kozad: Specifications

Carrying Cargo Capacity:

We took delivery of our 2014 U24 Murphy Bed yesterday and on the way home had the opportunity to go through a government weigh scale. The unit had full fuel tank, full propane tank and 40% filled fresh water. Empty black & grey tanks. Driver and passenger weighing in at approx. 300lbs combined.
 
The following are the numbers from the scale:
 
Front Axle: 3,856lbs
Rear Axle: 6,438lbs
Total Weight: 10,294lbs
 
We then weighed each individual corner/tire.
Driver's Front: 1,808lbs
Driver's Rear: 2,999lbs
Passenger Front: 1,918lbs
Passenger Rear: 3,263lbs
Total Weight: 9,988lbs
 
Interestingly enough there was a 306 lbs difference in these total weigh numbers. Not sure why, but the tires were not placed in the exact spot on the scale, if that might make a difference?
 
LTV documents my Unity's numbers as:
Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR): 11,030lbs
Cargo Carrying Capacity (CCC): 658lbs
 
In theory our Unity MB should have a CCC of 735lbs, only 77lbs off of LTV's number!

Loaded Weight But Not Totally Loaded!

We have loaded just about all of our stuff into the Unity but there is still more to come.  So, better to know now how much we can get on board before we are overweight.

So, another trip to the weigh scale with the following weights recorded:

Front Axle: 3,880lbs
Rear Axle: 6,614lbs
Total Weight: 10,494lbs
 
We then weighed each individual corner/tire.
Driver's Front: 1,808lbs
Driver's Rear: 3,131lbs
Passenger Front: 1,896lbs
Passenger Rear: 3307lbs
Total Weight: 10,142lbs

Our weight increase so far has only been 200lbs, Jan can pack a lot more so she is happy!

7th Sept. 2014:  Loaded Weight...... Totally Loaded!

We are loaded with all of our stuff overweight.

So, this should be the final trip to the weigh scale with the following weights recorded:

Front Axle: 3,880lbs
Rear Axle: 7,076lbs
Total Weight: 10,956lbs
 
We then weighed each individual corner/tire.
Driver's Front: 1,808lbs
Driver's Rear: 3,285lbs
Passenger Front: 1,940lbs
Passenger Rear: 3527lbs
Total Weight: 10,560lbs

Our weight increase 512lbs, so we are pretty much at the max with full fuel tank, full DEF tank, 75% propane and empty black & grey tanks.
