To Victoria Again!

Time With Family
5th to 7th October, 2017

Our 4hr drive back to Victoria

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To Victoria

After our down time in Tofino we decided to go back to Victoria to spend Craig's Birthday with family; our son Jim & Cass and niece Jenn & Tyler so we could celebrate together!

The drive from Tofino to Port Alberni is always a bit of a challenge with windy, narrow roads with little to no shoulders; but always worth the drive!  Although there was a lot of road improvement construction going on, so the drive was longer than expected.

Mr. Mike's

In 1974 when Craig first moved to Campbell River on Vancouver Island he frequented a restaurant called Mr. Mike's Steakhouse.  Forty some years later we were re-introduced to "Mr. Mike's Steakhouse Casual" and at that time Craig joined their loyalty program.

A few days before we left Tofino, a "Happy Birthday" email arrived from Mr. Mike's offering a free entrée if we visited one of their locations within two weeks of Craig's birthday.

Of course we stopped at the Duncan location where Craig feasted on a 12oz Ribeye entrée courtesy of Mr. Mike's!  Wow!

Thank you Mr. Mike's

Birthday in Victoria

We arrived back to Victoria and the Westbay RV Park, this trip was more relaxing and we were able to spend Craig's Birthday with our son Jim & Cass's home celebrating with our niece Jenn & Tyler.

Jim and Cass baked an amazing carrot cake with roasted coconut covered in cream cheese icing!  Delicious.

Jim has been a huge Tilley Hat Fan and has wanted his Dad to follow him as a Tilley Hat owner.

Jim & Cass on behalf of our three children (Kim & Chris, Andrew & Zoe and Jim & Cass) were very generous and gave Craig two Tilley Hats for his birthday!

A Wool Winter Hat

Also, A Summer Vented Hat!

Thank you for the great Birthday!

Interesting cargo carrier with two fuel tanks and storage bins

While we were at Westbay this Yacht Transport Ship was unloading

Tofino Time!

West Coast Beauty
30th September to 5th October, 2016

4hrs and 314kms

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tofino

After spending two week in Victoria visiting family and friends it was some time for alone time!  The best place to relax, in our opinion, is visiting the West Coast of Vancouver Island and in particular ~ Tofino!

We stayed at Crystal Cove Resort and absolutely loved it!  The sites are private with full hook-ups; free showers, free firewood and free Starbucks Coffee from 8:30am to 1:30pm!

Crystal Cove sits on the south end of McKenzie Beach and the campsites are only a 3 minute walk to the sand beach!

Amazing Old Cedars

Jan liked this fellow!

We had a great spot here, site #7

Lots of interesting beach art!

The views are amazing!

 Ucluelet's Wild Pacific Trail

The Wild Pacific Trail

It was a little wet!

There were a lot of interesting mushrooms along the trail.

There are a lot of these moss clumps on the trees

But we have never seen one like this before!
Kind of creepy looking, like a person is up there?

To the left and around the corner is the way to Ucluelet

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tofino's Tacofino Food Truck

Another bonus to camping at Crystal Cove Resort is a short walk to the Tacofino Truck located at 1184 Pacific Rim Hwy At the back of the Beaches/Live to Surf Parking Lot

Parked and going for Fish Burritos

Tacofino Truck - Tofino
We have been to their restaurant in Victoria
Both well worth the visit!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And Back To Victoria

After spending time in Tofino it was time to head back to
Victoria to spend Craig's Birthday with Jim & Cass!

We followed this logging truck with a load of cedar logs
The large one had a hollow centre which you could see straight thru!

Busy In Victoria

Busy, busy, busy.....

Our time in Victoria some how always speeds by with visiting our son Jim & Cass, friends and Craig's cousins.  This trip was exceptionally busy as we had good friends from out of town visit at Jim & Cass's for a huge prime rib dinner.

We seemed to have commitments every day and evening so luckily we had rented a car for the two weeks to provide us with some flexibility.  Craig still cannot walk any distance, so there was no option but to have a vehicle at our disposal!

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Although busy we loved every minute!

Do not even ask how much it cost!

Standing on the new Black Ball Ferry Terminal

We took a quick side trip with the rental car to Port Angeles, Port Orchard, Port Townsend,
Port Gamble, and Poulsbo

We have spent time and enjoyed Poulsbo before!
These small treats are from Sluy's Bakery.

Then it was a drive up the coast to Port Gamble, WA
This was our first visit to this historic village.
Very picturesque and undergoing an extensive harbour refit

One of the old "mansions" in Port Gamble

One very old tree!

These are propellors for the Black Ball Ferry MV Coho!

Our good friends Penny & Mike brought their 5th Wheel down for a visit with us
We spent three days together and had an awesome time!

Jim & Cass put in a request to go to Salt Spring Island
They wanted to shop at the Ganges Market!

We were told to go to  Les Chocolats Favoris store
in Downtown Victoria

Amazing cones!
These were dipped mini-cones!
The chocolate is approx. 1/4" thick!

I saw these wheel covers on a Sprinter
Great Concept.

These are RealWheel Covers
I think these will be on order for our LTV RealSoon!

Our wheel covers squeak, rattle and roll around the rims!
You can order these Real Wheel Covers direct!
Hmmm, let me think about this :)
