Our time in Mesa, AZ
We departed the Grand Canyon for Mesa, AZ where we were booked for a week's stay. Jan was meeting up with 2 of her friends here and Craig needed a week's rest to see if his back pain would settle down.
The drive to Mesa was uneventful and not surprisingly the cooler, 6900' elevation cooler weather kept warming up as we neared Phoenix and Mesa.

We passed an interesting site along the way; it was the Planes of Fame Museum" at Valle, AZ. This is a satellite museum for the main Planes of Fame Museum at in Chino, CA. They have an amazing amount of flyable planes as well as other military vehicle displays.

The number of planes at these two museums is impressive, you can take a look at the variety of exhibits on display at Inventory Planes of Fame.

We drove through an area where the Saguaro Cacti were in abundance! |

We had reservations at Green Acres RV Park in Mesa. This park is in an ideal location to explore the Phoenix area; 5 minute walk to the public transit rail system with easy access to the airport, shopping, restaurants, etc, etc.
The sites are wide enough to park a second vehicle new to your RV. It is clean, has a small swimming pool and some sites have a tree which provides shade.

Our week here was hot, clear skies and only had wind pick up one evening where we had to retract the awning. Unfortunately, Craig did not even get a chance to leave our RV Site, he could only make it as far as the neighbouring site where Jan's two friends were staying.... 20 feet.
The three ladies enjoyed a week of shopping, sightseeing, lunches and hikes!

Saguaro Lake is the fourth reservoir on the Salt River formed by the Stewart Mountain Dam in the U.S. state of Arizona. The lake is off State Route 87, about halfway between Phoenix and the ghost town of Sunflower. from Wikipedia

Mean While Back At The Ranch!
Have you noticed a trend here. Craig resting back at the RV Resort, resting at the Campground, Craig not moving too far, not too fast, etc, etc. Limited mobility and chronic pain is not fun!
Mean while, the ladies have been out, every day! Craig has not complained for this entire week, nor the entire trip. He has just spent his time with his "kindle", right here at the RV Resort - having not left this spot because of his back!
Waiting to eat - not happy! LOL Where is my hamburger, what you ate it!! |
