Leg One: North to Sedona
We have broken Leg One into three segments. Why? Simply the route we took was spectacular with ever changing vistas, rock formations and scenery! Too much to include in one post!
9th April, 2016
We had hoped the week's rest in Mesa would reduce Craig's pain and increase his mobility. Unfortunately nothing had changed but rather his condition was worsening.
On April 8th, Craig called back to our home hospital to inquire about an appointment for a special procedure. This was to assess if a non-surgical option would be our last option. Booking advised there was one appointment in 5 days time if we could make it.
So the decision was made to drive back home and make the appointment. We packed up and headed North up through Sedona, AZ.

Driving north on AZ-101 N the freeway is amazingly landscaped and is bordered by images and art pieces. Truly inspiring how this area is maintained. If you click on the link above it will show you some more of these art pieces, although from Tucson very similar work is done in the Phoenix area.

State Route 179, also known as SR 179, the Red Rock Scenic Byway, a north–south state highway in Arizona, USA, running from Interstate 17 to SR 89A in Sedona. In 2006, the US Dept. of Transportation awarded SR 179 its highest designation within the National Scenic Byways Program: the All-American Road designation, due to the red rock and sandstone formations through which it travels along its 7.5-mile (12.1 km) length within the hills of the Coconino National Forest. The All-American Road designation also signifies to the travelling public that this is a road that is "a destination unto itself". from Wikipedia
