19th to 22nd March 2016
Our time in Palm Desert with Dana & Carmen along with Carmen's parents Ernie and Phylis, was simply awesome.
I apologize as this is a longer post than usual. We had such a great time and took way too many pictures. So, we have attempted to edit it down so we can capture the beauty of the area and what we had done.

Half Time Stomp Spectators do the divot stomp to get the field in shape! |
These "Polo Ponies" were amazing!
Each rider had a minimum of 4 horses to ride during a match.
At the half time rest we were able to walk amongst the players, referees and horses.

Jan and Carmen ~ Just a Swing'n |
Now there is a swing! But at a Polo Field? |
Carmen, Dana, Phylis and Ernie took us for a hike in the desert.
This was in the
Nice easy hiking.
Desert Fauna |
We saw this boulder, if you look closely the large boulder you may see the shadows look like it is a face. |
Can you see the eyes, nose & ? |
We were lucky that there had been some significant rains and the blooms were out. |
Beautiful Colours |
This little guy was all by himself. Only one we saw like this! |
Such interesting shapes, sizes and colours |
Along the edge of the trail was an area where mud bees were burrowing. |
The cacti had colourful blossoms. |
As we were hiking this little guy hitched a ride on Carmen. We did not know where he came from, then we looked around. |
There were dozen's of these beetles eating the blossoms and then mating! |
Came across a lizard! |
Moving Fast! |
Interesting little guy! |
Carmen & Jan You can see the size of the cactus to the right of them. |
These are approximately 7 to 8 feet tall. |
The trail went right beside this guy. Beware though, huge and nasty spikes are all of this beauty! |
This was a great time, wonderful visit and our hosts were "AWESOME"!
Thanks Dana, Carmen, Phylis and Ernie!
I think we will come back again, soon!
