Headed South - Finally!

2016 Fourth Year Trying!

11th May 2016 - Leg  One:  Vernon BC to Boardman, OR.  Distance 742kms 8hrs

This is the 4th year we have tried to venture south to California, Arizona and Utah.  The previous attempts were thwarted by a variety of events and finally we have been able to get away.

First Day to Boardman Oregon

We left Vernon at approx. 0730 am and drove to Osoyoos where we stopped for a 2 hour visit with good friends Dave & Sue.

Then it was across the Osoyoos BC - Orville WA border crossing.  As always we are subject to an agricultural inspection; we have found it works best if we leave for the USA with no fresh fruits, vegetables and no meats (fresh nor frozen) on board.

Our first stop across the border was to stop at Omak, Wa and load up with our groceries at the local Safeway Store.  Our goal driving down was not to spend a lot of time sight seeing but to get to Palm Desert, CA as we have a lot of friends in the southern California and Arizona area whom we would like to visit.

We had been having issues with our valve stems leaking; this has been ongoing since we had the TireMan Custom Valve Stems installed locally.  Actually we have had the LTV in to the local tire shop on approx. 6 occasions resulting in three broken valve stems and continual leaks.  We had thought this was fixed yesterday when we had them once again deal with a slow leak.

Well, that did not work too well as we woke up to a severely soft tire with low air pressure.  Craig pumped up the tire with our 12V portable air compressor and battery booster.  

Looks like the next stop is the closest Les Schwab in Pendleton, OR
