Leg Two: Boardman, OR to Jackpot, NV 9 hours 710kms
Day Two Boardman, OR to Jackpot NV Via Twin Falls |
We left Boardman after pumping up our passenger side inner dually tire and headed off for Pendleton, OR to the Les Schwab Tire shop.
Along the way we saw a few interesting scenery, one of which was a massive ammunition storage facility for the US Army: Umatilla Army Depot with hundreds of mounded reinforced bunkers for chemical weapons storage.
Umatilla Army Depot |
Rows upon rows of bunkers |
This depot is apparently being reassigned and closed down but the following article link describes problems: News Article |
Lots of artistic work on the rail cars down here! |
Cows, cows and cows! Jan loves cows. |
Thousand Springs, ID Along the drive we came across these springs. Interestingly some of these outpourings were harnessed to irrigation pipes. |
Fishing Town! |
Our 2.5 hour pit stop at a Les Schwab in Twin Falls ID Fixing a leaky valve stem.... AGAIN!!!! |
The terrain started to change into Desert along the way to Jackpot! |
We were hoping that the tire valve has been fixed as the ongoing loosing of air has been very frustrating!
We continued along our way to Jackpot, NV where we stopped at Cactus Pete's Casino and RV Park. When we arrived here we saw a lot of rigs parked in the front area but we wound our way to the rear near the RV Office. The RV park has a second area with trees and grass behind the casino and RV Office. Nice place to spend the night.
